Grilling the Perfect Burger on Charcoal

Have you ever wondered why your neighbor's burgers are always so darn good? Well he uses a secret recipe that I'm about to tell you. That secret recipe is love - LOL No it's not, well I mean it could be but it's actually a lot simpler than that.

I was serious about my neighbor's burgers being so darn good, then my son started making burgers just as wonderful. Finally I had to bite and ask why their grilled cheeseburgers were always so magical. The answer was really simple - they put the seasoning in as they were making the patties. I thought to myself, "self - how could that possible change the taste that much?" but it really does. So I tried it and O M G - what a huge difference. Suddenly my burgers were as good as the neighbor's and the son's!

Now you too can have an amazingly tasty burger. One more thing before I give you the recipe. Although you can cook these in a pan on the stove and they will be good, the best results will be on the grill. Some folks love their gas grills but John and I prefer charcoal. Charcoal grilling is a bit of a lost art, but hearing the sizzle of the charred meat is the best. So no matter how you cook them, just be sure they are completely cooked through.

On to the recipe!

The Perfect Burger

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef

  • 1 Egg

  • 3 Dashes of Garlic Power

  • 3 Dashes of Onion Powder

  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

  • 1/4 Cup Italian Bread Crumbs

Mix the egg and then add the garlic and onion powder, salt and pepper and mix together. Add the Ground Beef until the egg mixture is throughly mixed through the meat. When it has become moist - add the bread crumbs until the meat has a consistency that will hold the meat together.

Once formed, it's time to cook.
